In a classic episode of Antiques Roadshow, BBC host Fiona Bruce took viewers to the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester. Among the thousands of people who attended the show and were eager for their belongings to be appraised, one guest left pundit Marc Allum blown away by his memories of the Rolling Stones. Autographs and photos showed the memories the guest had created and, in turn, were invaluable.
After introducing the guest to the show, Marc said, “Based on the material we have on the table in front of us, were you a bit of a Rolling Stones fan?
“Tell me something about all these things?”
Smiling at Marc’s enthusiasm, the guest explained, “OK, Paris 1965, on a school trip, vacation and my friend and I, who were also on a school trip, knew the Stones were going to be in Paris that week. .
“So I took the tube, went to the hotel, managed to make our way to the hotel bar, and that’s where we met Mick, Keith and Brian.

“I spent an hour chatting with them, hence the photos and autographs!”
Shocked by the story she had just told, Marc asked: “So let me understand, how old were you?”
“Fourteen,” the guest revealed, shocking Marc even more as he exclaimed, “Fourteen, on a school trip, you knew in advance that the Stones were in Paris.
“You had plotted to sleep on your school trip and go meet the Rolling Stones, you don’t look like a wild girl!”
Taken once again by his story, Marc yelped: “You said you were in a hurry!”
“Well, yeah, I know that sounds ridiculous, but they phoned the bar, and someone there said to send them, and we left,” the guest said.
Pointing to the photos, Marc continued, “Well, here’s the proof, here are three photos in front of us, and I love these photos, and I’m guessing one of these girls here is you?”
Pointing to himself in the photo, the guest explained, “Yeah, that’s me, we don’t know, but I’m blonde, and I’m that one in the back and that’s my friend Jean.”
Marc asked, “Okay, well, you were partners in crime, which Stones members did you both like the most?”
The guest said: “Well, from the photo you can tell Jean was a fan of Keith and I was a fan of Brian.
“But unfortunately there was not enough film in the camera for me to be photographed with Brian.”
Clarifying his story, Marc repeated, “So those three photos were the last three photos of the roll.
“To be honest with you it looks like you had a really amazing time, I can see here you have some signings as well.
“I can see you have Mick Jaggers signing there, then below here we have Brian Jones and who is below?”
“Keith, it all happened over there in the bar!”
Stunned by the origin story of the photos and autographs, Marc said, “I can’t believe he looks so young, doesn’t he!
“Value, I think you probably have £300-400 worth of gear here!”
Shocked by the amount, the guest exclaimed, “Really? Gosh, I’m surprised, great!”
Marc joked: “The experience was way more valuable, wasn’t it?”
To which she agreed and said, “Well, I’ve remembered that for a long time, let’s put it that way.”
