Few and Far opened in March 2008. Priscilla
describes it as a shop and that she is the
shopkeeper.
The philosophy behind the shop was to
create a collection of personal items for sale
found from the huge bank of artisanal
makers and new found skills that Priscilla
had amassed over a life time of being in the
retail business.
Not aimed at a socio-economic group, it has
a very eclectic point of view; 'more like the
way people live in their own homes' says
Priscilla.
A surprising mix of carefully made clothing
collections from India - France - Morocco -
Italy - the Faroe Islands - Mongolia and the
UK, sit happily with contemporary and
vintage furniture, toys, craft and tabletop,
jewellery and exhibitions.
The shop was created to inspire and
stimulate customers - prices are very wide;
one pound for a ring to £10,000 for a storage
piece. It is also intended to be somewhere
that is very comfortable to be - staff
welcome you, offer tea or coffee, talk to you
knowledgeably about the products and wrap
everything carefully in handmade paper.
This is not a conventional shop - it's
somewhere to enjoy and to find something
that hopefully you will treasure for a very
long time.
